The opened its doors in November 2017 and has grand plans to develop its offerings over the coming years. A trip here will allow you to meet playful Humboldt penguins as they splash about in their pool. Make sure you stick about for feeding time to really see them in all their glory. You can also see flamingos in their new habitat and say hello to the newly arrived tapir and capybaras. Here you will get to learn more about conservation and you will develop a greater understanding of endangered animals and plant species around the world.

The house itself provides a beautiful backdrop for adventures and it offers itself up as a space for creating and exploring. Under-fives can follow the Gascoignes Abroad stories in the interactive gallery by learning through play. They have a series of Discovery Chests which provide safe and interesting objects from around the world to entice and excite your little ones. They have Curiosity Cabinets here too for you to find which enable children to touch, play and explore in order to discover the different stories of Lotherton and the people who lived here. Lotherton is a great place to let off steam. There are a range of different outdoor activities to take part in and there are eight acres to really explore and spend time in. They have two outdoor play areas, one for children under 8 with climbing frames, a zip wire, swings, roundabouts and plenty of seating close to the Stable Courtyard so you can watch from afar. The other playground is for older children and is set within a woodland setting. There are family trails around the gardens for you to take part in and woodland games in the summer months.
